After meeting our first Bloodhound friends in 2001, we knew we were hooked. Two lovely boys, Thunder and Dylan owned by Suzi Paine, stole our hearts with their incredible personalities and those adorable wrinkles. We did an enormous amount of research and were blessed to find Joe and Lisa Ivey, of Jo-Li Bloodhounds. Joe and Lisa became not only the breeders of our first (and second) bloodhound family member, they are also our friends. Though this marked the beginning for us in bloodhounds, our history in dogs is much more involved.
We currently reside on a lovely five acre parcel in a gorgeous area in Northern Idaho. We have numerous fenced yards for the dogs, including a half acre running yard where they manage to keep each other out of trouble, most of the time. The dogs love it here, we have snow for them to play in during winter and it is nice and warm for sun bathing in the summer. Our home has been completely designed to accommodate our dogs, with indoor/outdoor kennels, a "dog friendly" kennel room where everything is bloodhound proof, and a family room with washable floors, walls and furniture!
Our dogs really are an intricate part of our lives. Each of our dogs has a separate piece of our hearts and luckily there is PLENTY of love to go around. We enjoy all the different "quirks" each of them possess. We have built our home to suit them, we are planning our property to fulfill their needs and all of our travels revolve around their presence. I can only begin to describe what they all mean to us.
We are very active with our dogs, competing in areas appropriate to each breed. With our current bloodhound (Nova, we compete in conformation, and are looking forward to pursuing titles in obedience, rally and trailing. Odin, our Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen, is an excellent family dog and we are going to have him in the rally ring very soon.
We bred our first litter, the Potato Litter, in 2004 and are extremely proud of our babies and everything they accomplished. We take special care to place our puppies in perfect forever homes. Our second litter was born in the summer of 2006, the M-Azing Litter. Our dogs are first, and foremost members of the family and this is a key part of our breeding program. We can only hope that our subsequent litters will be as successful in their homes as our little Spuds and M-Azing babies!
We hope you enjoy this brief glimpse into our lives and the lives of our dogs. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or suggestions you may have!
